PRESIDENT MARK JUAREZ SHARES HIS VISION FOR THE RAA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
It is a great feeling to be able to give back to the school that gave me such great values in life, to say “thank you” in some small way to the staff, teachers, and students that influenced my life, and to to be a part of creating a strong future for Redding Adventist Academy. Our alumni association is young with minimal resources. We are in the process of building our database which currently has almost 300 people who have graduated either as seniors, tenth or eighth graders from Redding Adventist Academy or Lawncrest Junior Academy. This gives me great hope for what we can accomplish.
This year we have identified our first project to benefit the school. We will be raising money to purchase a new score board for the sports program. The existing score board in the school gym has been in use for quite some time, and many of the lights are no longer working. The school has active basketball and volleyball programs and hosts visiting teams, so a new scoreboard will reflect positively on RAA.
In addition to this project, our alumni association also supports a scholarship fund which is administered by the school to help those families who struggle to keep their bills current. Without this kind of help, my own family would have had great difficulty sending three children through RAA. I am personally grateful to those who helped, and I believe strongly that it isn’t what you have in life, but what you do with what you have.
Another opportunity to help RAA is through the Alumni Association’s general fund which supports Alumni Sabbath activities, our newsletter, and other operating expenses.
When you give to the special project or to our scholarship or general funds, you are helping to make a difference in the life of a young person. I hope that you will make that choice. Your donation is tax deductible.
You have the opportunitiy to get involved with your alumni association at a meeting following the potluck on Alumni Sabbath. You’ll also have the chance to win a $40 Barnes and Noble gift card in a raffle. At 8:15 that evening there will be a basketball game between the RAA varsity teams and the alumni. This is always great fun! If you bring the address of any missing alumni on Saturday night, you’ll receive a free dessert made by RAA’s Home and School association.
See you on April 12!
